The population has exploded in South West Edmonton in the last 6 years, and playgrounds are in high demand by the community and its children. In the community of Callaghan, 23 percent of our residents are under the age of 15, with this number growing every year. Playgrounds are places for community members to gather and socialize all while supporting and building a strong community. Playgrounds encourage social interaction and physical well-being, creating a vibrant meeting place that strengthens a community.
The community of Callaghan has successfully raised $650,000 to build a playground. The playground was completed in the fall of 2018 and the Grand Opening will be occurring in 2019!
Now we are working towards the addition of a spray park. This would be a unique and welcome addition to the area. As part of our fundraising efforts, we will be holding our fourth annual Callaghan Park Golf Tournament at Red Tail Landing Golf Club on Friday, July 19th, 2019. The tournament will be a Texas Scramble shotgun start at 8:30am. Following the tournament there will be a steak dinner, silent auction, 50/50 and raffle draw.
At our inaugural tournament in 2015 we raised over $15,000 towards our playground, had 16 amazing hole sponsors and over 100 golfers. Our 2016 tournament was an even greater success! A full 18 holes of amazing sponsors and well over 100 golfers. We even had a Hole in One winner! 2017 continued on this path with a full tournament of players and sponsors. 2018 was possibly the best one yet, with a sold out event!
Be sure to take advantage of the Early Bird pricing and reserve your spot in this amazing event that is sure to sell out quickly!
To support our tournament this year we are looking for hole sponsors, silent auction donors and golfers. Details on sponsorship opportunities are on the Sponsors page. We look forward to having a fun and successful event again this year – thank you in advance for your support!
